Revelation paper
A revelation is defined as “something revealed or disclosed esp. a striking disclosure, as of something not before realized”. In other words, a revelation is an event that occurs that opens one’s eyes to something they have been mistaken about. It is the step of taking the blindfold off of an individual and showing them the truth. Revelations have many aspects and elements to them each of them playing a major part in the person who is undergoing the revelation.
When a revelation occurs there is usually a revealer or a prophet that brings this message to the person’s attention. The prophet is usually a person or a message, that has experienced or illustrated things relating to this revelation before, or knows a lot about the subject. When an individual is first presented with a revelation they are not sure whether they want to believe what they are hearing, or not believe it. This is because the message that the revelation is revealing is something that the person was mistaken about. This is the stage where the profit or revealer has its strongest influence on the individual. The profit/revealer will travel deep into the persons mind and from there the person will decide whether the revelation will affect his or her life. Given this information, the individual undergoing this revelation usually will have a very strong relationship or bond (whether it be good or bad) with the prophet after the revelation is revealed. If the revelation is something that the individual will live by and change his or her life, that individual will be grateful towards the prophet. However, revelations are not always accepted. If that person undergoes a revelation and discovers something that they don’t want to accept, that person could potentially block out things such as revealers and prophets so other revelations like that wont affect their lives. The revealer or prophet does not always have to be a human however, because things such as dreams, omens, and other messages can cause a revelation.
People in the world today live with many different speculations, outlooks, and opinions on life. Therefore the way they live are based on these speculations. From the movie matrix directed by #### the main character neo is living in the regular world. His daily routine is very similar and as the days roll by, so does life. Nothing seems to be changing in the corrupt world he’s living in where the rich man gets paid and the working man gets played. Neo suddenly faces a revelation. He meets the prophet/revealer named Morpheus who tells Neo he can show him the truth behind the world he is living in. He warns him it won’t be pretty but Neo accepts the revelation. From then on the film takes Neo on a roller coaster ride where he experiences things he would have never fathomed of seeing. This revelation made Neo realize a lot of things and he could never live his life the same again. This revelation was a very important asset to his life because had he not encountered the revelation, he would’ve still been in the normal world blind-folded. This revelation changed Neo’s life and made him realize things he hadn’t seen before. “The Matrix is an interesting revelation story because in the end there are two prophets. In the end Neo is fully recognized as the One and he is capable of doing even more than Morpheus, his prophet, is capable of. This shows a sort of master, student relationship between prophets. Morpheus the master, taught Neo, the student. Later Neo becomes a prophet himself.”(CALVIN). As Calvin has stated here, the relationship between Morpheus and Neo change throughout the movie. First the relationship goes from Morpheus being the teacher and Neo being the disciple, to Neo being just as skilled and just as much of a prophet as Morpheus. Neo had taken off his blind fold and could now see the world through his own eyes…the “real world”. This revelation brought drastic change to Neo’s life and with the knowledge he had gained from it, he could move on to teach others just as Morpheus did for him.
In the book The Running Man by Stephen King, the main character Richard is living in a world completely ruled by the government. The streets are not taken care of, nor are the people. They live in run down buildings and poverty had swept throughout the whole country. Things such as curfews are set and the people have no real say in anything. The only way to make real money was to audition for the only game show on the only TV channel in the country. The game show was made to hurt and sometimes even kill people. This is what the government thought as entertaining. Throughout the book Richard goes through many revelations. His first revelation came about when his new born daughter got seriously ill. Since he and his wife could no longer afford to buy their daughters medicine, Richard came across a revelation and had to make a change. He couldn’t see his daughter die like this. He decided to go and audition for the game show so he could make some money to provide for his family, even if it meant he had to die doing it. With this revelation, Richard was his own prophet/revealer finding himself changing his life and putting himself at risk due to the circumstances. Richard then went on to get the audition for the game show in which he was told he was going to be chased by bounty hunters and every hour he stayed alive he would make more money. This was another revelation for Richard because when he was being told the game rules and what he was about to endure, he got himself physically and mentally prepared. This was life for him now and it was his turn to step up to the plate to make a change. He knew he had to stay alive and rack in the most money he could for his daughter’s sake and this made his drive and ambition stronger. As did Richard, many individuals can come across revelations without an actual revealer/prophet. Sometimes when one is in a certain situation or in need of a certain something, revelations are found individually and then affect that persons life. It seems as though when a person doesn’t have a revealer to bring about the revelation the choice between letting the revelation effect you or not isn’t there. This is because you have become your own profit and people usually listen to themselves and their first instincts.
In the movie They Live, the prophet is Nada who discovers the truth about the world he’s living in when he finds a box of sunglasses. When he puts them on, he sees the real messages behind big industrial, commercialized things such as advertisements, books, signs, etc. The ignorant mass includes everyone who tried to resist and those who are clueless as to what is actually happening in their world. In the movie, the cops and the wealthy people are the oppressors because they tried their best to stop the people who knew about the truth from spreading it to other people. When Nada looks at people like these, he sees ugly distorted humans. The look they had was almost like a virus and anyone who had fallen slave to the commercial world looked this way. The main message in the movie was that people are often blinded by money and the technology the society's really 'into'. As a result, they lose control over their life and actions; they end up risking everything just for these 'things' because they think it will make them happy.
A TV show on A&E called Intervention is a show with plenty examples of revelations. It is a show that focuses on people that are struggling with addictions and if the addictions don’t end, something bad will be bound to happen. In some cases its drugs, in some cases its alcohol, and in some cases it’s bad habits such as stealing, but revealers and prophets help these addicts out of their problems. In one case a heroin addict had denied his addiction problem for years until her finally hit rock bottom. He felt he had nothing to live for and nothing in the world left to care about. The show along with his family helped him realize that he does need serious help and that he did have something to live for. Revelations such as these help save peoples lives.
While taking this revelation course, I was asked to write a revelation story. The story had to have a prophet and a disciple (someone who was going through the revelation) and I wanted to make sure it would seem interesting. While choosing what to write about many revelations story ideas came to mind. So many came to mind in fact, I realized that everyone must go through at least one revelation a day. Not necessarily a revelation that will change your life for good but a revelation that is there for that moment in time and might influence you in a similar situation in the future. Now back to the making of my story. I wanted to make a story where the disciple learns the revelation himself, the hard way. I ended up writing a story about a young boy who gets caught up in the streets. He went from being a good student, basketball player, and his mother and fathers pride and joy to a gang banging, trouble making, drug dealer. The kid goes down the wrong path, hangs with the wrong crowd and only until he finds himself sitting locked up in a jail cell does he realize the mistakes he made. I feel that this was a good revelation story because the main character gets the revelation when it’s no longer any use to him. Since the main character went from one extreme (very good kid) to another (very bad kid) in a short amount of time it shows how revelations can be right in front of you the whole time but you cant see them until its too late. I felt by writing this story I showed myself how revelations cannot be taken seriously and/or not taken at all. In my story there was no Morpheus there to show the disciple the truth, in my story the disciple had to learn by himself.
In my life I have went through many different revelations. Some good, some bad. Some involving prophets, some I had to find out by myself. One revelation I came across by myself was when my baseball team lost in the playoffs. The three years prior to that season we had been division champions and went on to win the championship game. I was so accustomed to winning that when my team actually lost I was in a state of shock. I was so upset and it took a lot to calm me down. But one good thing that came out of the loss was the revelation I had. I learned that for one winning isn’t everything, and for two you can’t always win. This revelation helped me out in later years during competitive activities and helped me a lot with my sportsmanship skills. Had I not went through this process I would not have learned nor gained anything and I am happy I went through that revelation.
One revelation that did include a prophet was when I took a peak oil class and learned about industrialization. My teacher Andy definitely played the prophet role, because he opened my eyes to things I had never even thought of before. He brought to my attention the conflict of peak oil, he taught me about the industrial food system, and he even gave me information that made me stop eating one of my (then) favorite foods. This revelation opened so many doors for me and I truly feel that a blindfold was lifted from over my eyes. Without this revelation I wouldn’t have been aware of things that I am well aware of now and therefore wouldn’t be expanding my mind and imagination.
In conclusion revelations are things that make the world open their eyes. They are new ideas, thoughts, and statements that help the people of the world grow and expand. Without them I feel as if the world would be full of robotic people undergoing the same process day by day and not thinking anything of it. Revelations are needed for human growth and for new helpful ideas.

This is the story of a young man, the age of 13. A kid who has dreams of playing basketball and being like all the rich and famous people he sees on tv. This is the story of the kid that has two options, the right route or the wrong route. Unfortunatley he chose the wrong path. It all started when the kid by the name of Jermey tried out for his high school's basketball varsity team. In tryouts he had given it his all and was sure he was going to make it. The next day when he got to school he found out that he did not make the team. This devistated Jermey and he never picked up a basketball again. Jermey went home that day, the long train ride out to hallsey brooklyn on the J train seemed like an eternity until the train finally chugged into his station. As jermey was walking home and listening to his cd player he ran into an older kid from the neighborhood that he had known like a bigger brother since he was very little. "Whatup lil man" said jermeys older friend. This friend was known throughout the neighborhood for his flashy jewelry and expensive clothes. "hey how did you get those new jordans"!??? eclaimed Jermey. "Buisness is good" replied his friend. They stood and talked for a few moments when his friend suddenly lit up a joint of weed. You wanna try this my man?? he asked jermey. I...uhhh...mmmm....ok stuttered jermey and he took the lit joint out of his friends hand. Just then two undercover police officers ran up on the both of them with guns drawn and arrested both jermey and his friend. Now jermeys in the back of a paddy wagon getting sent to the police precinct in handcuffs. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DO ILLEGAL THINGS though jermey. REVELATIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Interacting with people is something that happens everyday. No matter what you are doing or where you are, you are bound to run across a person and interact with them, even if you don’t want to. People that do want the interactions have friends and other people to look towards in order to get the sense of belonging or importance. Without interactions, people will come across symptoms such as depression or self hate because they don’t have enough interaction in their daily life.
I have noticed that people whom interact the most are usually confident, and amusing in some way. This is what attracts people to talk to them and want to interact with them. To much daily interaction however, is not a good thing because people that have a lot of stuff to take care of can get annoyed by to much interaction. This can cause them to get stressed out and fed up with interacting with people. They might just want to be left alone.
People that don’t interact enough in their life usually come across as quiet and very to their self. They don’t want all the attention and don’t want to have people get to know them so they shut down interaction from the people around them. After one comes across like this people that once would have liked to talk to them or get to know them don’t even look towards them for any interaction because they already know that that certain individual doesn’t talk much. They get bored with that person and seek someone that will respond and or talk to them.
Interaction isn’t necessarily with someone you know, and does not always involve speaking. I’ve noticed interaction between strangers and I have had more of a eye contact/nod of the head instead of a full conversation. This type of interaction is non-verbal but still makes a connection between you and that person. Even if it’s for a second, it is a form of interaction.
Sexual interaction is another form of interaction people in the world go through. Looks and personality play a role in this type, and it is more of a physical interaction more than anything.
In conclusion interaction is something we go through everyday. Wether it’s with a stranger, someone you love, or someone in your family, interactions are a sense of bondage and forms a relationship. If the world went without interactions everybody would probably be doing their own thing and not even notice eachother as they walked by.

Stanley, i liked how you analyzed the situation during your thinking chunk. You said that you had found the right answer but was lied to from another classmate that said he had it right. I think it was funny that you continued to work on it and your thinking turned to frustration. You had it all along so get hyped. neway good paper my dude.....hollllla

Morgan, i felt that your blog had alot of opinions and interesting point of views. You made a point in the feelings chunk that i really agreed with. "All feelings are valid and should be expresssed because through expression of feelings we can learn more about eachother." I really agree with this comment because i beleive feelings are there for us to express them. When people keep feelings bottled up and inside of you they tend to grow worse and worse until that person snaps. Overall i liked your paper alot.

1st chunk
summary of the article and rd lang
In the article, normal alienation from experience, the author argues that we are completely alienated from our own lives. Instead of paying attention to the important aspects of life and our own actual experience, we pay attention to which one of our favorite tv shows is on tonight or what pair of sneakers we might want to buy next. The author also argues that the human race has become so limited and only register to feelings such as fatigue, food, sex, defecation and sleep. By doing so we are all limiting ourselves to a "half-ass life" and by being so alienated, we are living ok lives compared to GREAT lives.
2nd chunk

In the article the author adresses the fact that people today are very limited. I beleive that this is true because people have adapted to the habit of connecting with other people before connecting with themselves. People strive to make other people think higher or greater of them even if dosnt necesarily make them happy. Having people worrying about what others are thinking of them is a bad habit to fall into because then you aren't living your life, you are living someone elses. In order to be happy and to live life to the fullest one will have to connect with themselves first and find out who they are as a person and what role they play in their community. One argument that i am remaining neutral about is the argument that being alienated is a bad thing. Of course it isnt good to be alienated, but i feel no matter how hard anyone tries, growing up in this world you are automatically alienated. I dont feel that anyone has had a choice to become alienated therefore it is normal...or alienated?

3rd chunk
embodyment,sensory awareness etc etc
What does it mean to be embodied? How does it feel? What does it look like? In class we did a sensory awareness lesson in which we were blindfolded, brought down 6 flights of stairs, and then told to make it back to our classroom and to be seated in our original seats. The lesson for one, made me feel very lucky and appreaciative of having the sense of sight. Not being able to see made everything much more difficult to process and convert. A simple task such as finding the stairway or taking the first step was alot harder without vision. I noticed however that when one sense is lacking, your other senses will pick up. While being blindfolded i used senses such as touch, sound, and speaking out loud to find my way back to the room. The sense touch helped me find the banister to the stairs which guided me up. I counted each landing which helped me determine what floor i was on. I used the sense of sound to hear who was around me, and spoke out loud to see if anyone there with sight could either supply guidance or keep me from running into something.

childhood
As a child i remember things going so much smoother in life compared to how it is now. As a child i didnt have a care in the world, and my purpose was to have as much fun as i possibly could. With imagination and other things i grew as a learner and as a person. During this semester we looked back on our childhoods and tried to bring back the flavor of what it was like. We watched videos such as carebears to remember what keeps young children entertained. By watching the care bear tape, i saw that the cartoon was completely about being happy, sharing, and loving. This shows how cartoons put kids in their own worlds and children let their imaginations take them wherever they please. Another experiment we conducted was to brainstorm games we all had taken part of as young children. Games such as duck, duck, goose were suggested and after our list was done we picked the 3 most popular. After picking these 3 games we went outside and actually played all 3 games. The fun was still there but i found that after a few rounds of red light green light, the kid games were no longer as much fun.
5th chunk
When doing our unit on dreams, we were told to keep a dream journal. We were constructed to write them down after we woke up which was sometimes difficult. I found that when i couldn't remember my dreams i felt as though i had had less sleep. When i did remember my dreams i found that i felt like i was asleep for a longer period of time. I found that when i remembered my dreams they usually consisted of something that i thought about before i fell asleep or something that had happened in the last couple of days. This might show how the human mind works when we are asleep and how even when we are not physically awake, our minds continue to work. One thing that i couldnt really understand about dreams was how come they feel so real? I have been awaken by a dream before when the dream was about me falling or about to get hurt. When i wake up it takes a few seconds for my mind and self to realize that it was just a dream and i can continue to go back to sleep.
6th chunk
During the thinking unit we were given some complicated puzzles to complete. To conduct these puzzles and to get the answers right, it took a massive amount of thinking to be done. Doing these puzzles allowed us to see how are minds approach complicated problems and how our minds get around them. The thinking process is a highly complicated process because it involves many steps. When a problem is given to me i read the problem in my head to make sure i have a complete understanding of the problem. This allows me to make sure im taking the right steps to solving the problem. I have found however when i am given a problem i dont understand or cant comprehend, my mind blanks and spaces out and this can get frustrating. Frustration alters the thinking process and can make one feel like they are not capable of solving the problem.
7th chunk
Feelings can be altered by many things. Wether its what ,mood you are in, what kind of people you are surounded by, or even what kind of day it is, your feelings can change. There are many different feelings that can be mixed together or be set upon you as one. Each feeling plays its own role on your outlook on that day and each day you can feel something different. You can never have one everlasting feeling because your mood will always change. No matter what anyone says, feelings alter your appearence and outlook on life.

DIET PAPER
In America today obesity is one of the largest growing problems amongst American citizens. People exercise and go on diets in order to maintain a healthy body weight. Everyone has their own diet and workout plans that seem to work the best for them and keeps them at their desired weight. I am writing this paper and exploring two different kinds of diets to see which one is “better”. The two diets I will be exploring are the vegan diet and the Mediterranean diet.

The vegan diet is a diet based strictly on vegetables and is known to lower the risks of developing colon cancer, heart attack, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, prostate cancer, and stroke. Vegans do not use or consume animal products, notably meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products. Even though this diet cannot seem any healthier for you, it has been found that the vegan diet does have some health risks. Because this diet involves no meat, people on this diet are advised to take vitamins, minerals, and to monitor there eating habits. When asked about his experience with the vegan diet and the process he took, Steve Pavlina had this to say. “I was surprised at how easy it was to go vegetarian. I thought it would take a lot of discipline, but it really didn’t. I just made obvious substitutions: cheese or veggie pizza instead of pepperoni, pasta dishes, rice dishes, stir-fry veggies, etc. If I did this today, it would be even easier due to all the vegetarian products now on the market that weren’t available back then. I acquired one vegetarian cookbook (which I still have) that helped me with a few recipes, but mostly I found that cutting out flesh was painless.” Overall the Vegan diet is a good step towards keeping your body in shape, as long as you monitor your diet.

The Mediterranean diet came about from the Mediterranean basin, especially Greece and Southern Italy. “Common to the diets of these regions are a high consumption of fruit and vegetables, bread, wheat and other cereals, olive oil, fish, and Red Wine. The diet is often cited as a beneficial one for that it is low in saturated fat and high in monounsaturated fat and dietary fiber.” Although this diet does provide a good source of calcium, the diet doesn’t provide a good source of iron.

In conclusion there are pros and cons to every diet. Each diet works different for everyone and has different results on everyone. My advice to you (the reader) after doing this paper is to try a couple different things and see which works best for you.

Trip to the supermarket
The trip to the supermarket showed me how much more expensive the organic products were. from the milk to the tea to the chicken all organic products were going for a higher value. One thing we did notice however was that the supermarket was making a fortune off of every chicken sold. Each chicken was being sold for 5.47 after being cleaned, and packaged. If the supermarket bought it like that for say 3.00$ they are making a great profit but what kind of cut does the farmer get?

Industrial Food Essay
By: Trevor Nash
When many are asked about what industrialized food is, most will come up with an optimistic answer. I have taken two courses now that have both given me an in-depth look on what industrial food is, what it does, and what it is all about. If asked to explain industrial food in a couple brief words I would describe it as “recycled food”. America today is so industrial dependent that without factories and machinery we would be lost. This is obviously not a sustainable state we are in, because factories and machinery cause pollution and are taking us one step closer to the end of human civilization on earth.

During the course, we watched a documentary called “Our Daily Bread”. The film had no words in it, just sounds of machinery and the process of food development. It gives you a look on what’s on the inside of food processing plants and I was shocked to see where and how our food is prepared. It showed the viewers how livestock is produced in mass, and killed in mass. It also shows how everything is done as quick as possible because the faster the food gets out, the quicker these large organizations can make their profit. “These companies use a model that has transformed livestock farming from quality-driven family-owned operations into big businesses concerned with volume, efficiency, uniformity, and profits above all(Ken Midkiff).” Profits above all are what these companies are after and they are in it for today and tomorrow. They don’t have to worry about a couple years down the line because as long as moneys coming in, what is there to worry about?

As a class trip, our teacher took us to a nearby supermarket to try and understand the difference in price between organic foods and non-organic foods. Before entering the supermarket I was told that organic food is made 100% natural. No pesticides or any adjustments are made while the food is being processed. From the tea, to the milk, to the meat, all organic products were much more expensive. While regular milk was sold at 2.39 a gallon, the organic milk was sold at 4.99. Even though organic foods are more expensive, I feel that people should try an organic diet because it’s healthier and more natural. It’s not as I would call it “recycled food”.

Where and how are food come will also depend on the earths peak oil situation. These machines and factories rely on oil to keep them running and without it they will not be able to get their job done. “One of the greatest impacts will be on how and where our food is produced. The dominant models of intensive agriculture and the global food trade depend on vast inputs of oil. In a post peak oil world, the combination of higher transport costs, climate change and increased conflict will necessitate us all relying far more on re-localized food supplies. Even though it requires far lower amounts of oil, organic farming is not exempt from the need to adapt.”(http://www.organicconsumers.org/2006/article_1497.cfm) Like this quote explains, peak oil will complicate the way our food is made and transported all throughout the country. We will need to have food supplies made, sold, and eaten all in the same community because in order to transport the food, you need crude oil. Not only do we need to have these kinds of places locally, we need to have enough supply to feed everyone. Organic farming is also an option to get around the “how it’s made” part but this will take time and cannot be produced as quick. “It may come as a surprise to you that the world’s industrial food supply system is one of the biggest consumers of fossil fuels. Vast amounts of oil and gas are used as raw materials and energy in the manufacture of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides and as cheap and readily available energy at all stages of food production. Fossil fuels are also essential in the construction and the repair of equipment and infrastructure needed to facilitate this industry, including farm machinery, processing facilities, storage, ships, trucks and roads.” (http://www.oildecline.com/crisis.htm) Farming machinery such as tractors are needed to tend the crops and if there is no fuel to run these types of machines mass famine could be headed our way.

In conclusion Industrial food is just another way of saying recycled food. It is sad to say it, but we are in to deep to get out of our troubles now. The industrial food corporations have American people wrapped around their finger. Food is something everyone needs and we are relying on these corporations to get it to us. "We have given up to the agribusiness corporations a crucial part of our responsibility as human beings and we must now think of ways to take it back(wendell Berry)."
